The first 3 sacks of the season, 2 fumbles, and an Interception later made the 8th ranked BYU team look like a bottom of the pack MWC team. What does this equate to for us the Utah fan? A win, win. True Utes never mind seeing the Cougars lose, especially in the manner that they did it last night. However, had the Cougars won, it would have started to set up an undefeated-undefeated match-up between the rivals.
Bronco Mendenhall was visibly shaken after the game. In the post game interviews I witnessed, Mendenhall appeared with red eyes, and disappointment in his voice. However, in my opinion, Bronco sowed his own seeds of sorrow.
Last offseason, Mendenhall took the stance that, to schedule down and go undefeated to make the BCS, was indeed a better strategy to get into the BCS than to play quality opponents. The problem with this, the same thing Hawaii did last season, is that when you do indeed meet a quality opponent, your team is not ready to compete at such a level, as evidenced last night.
So, my preliminary prediction for the Holy War, is that Utah’s defense will stifle the Cougar “Offense”. Score: 28-17.

Good post. Watching the game, Utah's D looks very similar to TCU, speed all over the field.
I will be blogging about this later too, but while the BYU game suddenly looks a whole lot easier, the TCU game suddenly looks a whole lot tougher. The final score of the TCU game might be 6-3.
Last night was almost as fun as a Utah win though.
THE MWC IS HORRIBLE. They don't deserve to play in a BCS game. Once in their history they had an great team. BYU is bad, the U will never win a national championship and they should never have the chance. I would take a one loss USC, Florida, LSU, Bama, or even Penn State, and Ohio State over an undefeated BYU team or Utah team. Football fans in Utah are DELUSIONAL. From ISOLICIOUS
